Puno Traditional 3 Days and 2 Nights

Highlights

Located at an altitude of 3 810 meters high, the Titicaca lake is the highest navigable lake in the world. It also reaches a maximal deepness of 280 meters, allowing all kings of embarcations to navigate on its waters. Puno also counts on the presence of various islands. One of thos is the island of Taquile which is characterized by the unique way of living of its inhabitants which is based on the moral code of the incas. Another of these islands, Uros, which habitants are known as Kot-Suña (the people of the lake) which means who cannot drown and doesn’t feel the cold.

Itinerary

Day 1: Puno – Islands of Uros and Amantani
Our guide will go pick you up at your hotel in Puno early to do a couple of excursion hours in a motor boat on the Titicaca lake to reach the floating islands of Uros which people is know as the agua tribe. They need to periodically rebuilt their island, adding a new sheet of reed. Their boats and houses are also built out of the same material. Then, we will experiment some of the ancestral traditions of the islanders and we will continue our boating trip until the Amantani island. This island is inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives that are still legislated by their ancient traditions. Their principal occupation is the production of ceramics and textiles. The positive energy of this island is so powerful that it is known as the Isal del Amor (Love island). We will spend thenight in the houses of the islanders, enjoying their hospitality.

Day 2: Amantani and Taquile islands – Puno
After breakfast, we will take some time to wander around the streets of this magnificent island. By the end of the morning, we will take our boat to get to the Taquile islands, who are also inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developped an efficient and unique social system. To reach the center of Taquile, we must climb 567 steps. Then, we will have breakfast and rest for a while. We will return to Puno in the evening to spend the night in our hotel.

Day 3: Cusco
After breakfast, we will take you back to the train or bus station to get back to Cusco or your next destination.
