Tour To Maras – Moray – Salineras 01 Day

At 9 a.m., we pick you up from your hotel in our private transportation to go toward the village of Maras, on our way, we will see typical populations and beautiful landscapes. Arrival and visit of the following places.

Itinerary

DURATION: 01 DAY:
First, we will go pick you up at your hotel to take our private transport that will lead us to the town of Chinchero where our journey will begin. From there, we will take our bikes to get to the archeological complex of Moray where we will arrive at about 10:30 a.m. There, our guide will give us some detailed informations about this site. Then, we will go to the village of Maras. We will arrive around 11 a.m. at Maras. There, you will be able to observe the 38 different terraces that form the archeological complex. We will also see the artisans and their works and we will learn how they prepare the Chicha (a traditional drink made from corn). We will have lunch at about 3 h 30 p.m. , then we will go the the bridge of Tarabamba where our trip will come to an end. Return to Cusco at 5 p.m.
  • MARAS.- Is located in the province of Urubamba at 3 300 m.a.s.l. There, we can encounter the snow-covered mountain range of the Vilcanota and summits the summits of: Chikón (5530 m.a.s.l.), Putukisi and the Veronica (5682 m.a.s.l.).
  • MORAY.- Is located at about 7 km to the southwest of Maras; it is a unique archaeological complex in its genre in the region. It is an enormous site formed of various terraces that are superposed concentrically. These beautiful terraces were used in the Inca time as an agricultural laboratory in which ancient quechuas experienced and obtained incredible agricultural advances.
  • SALINERAS or “SALT MINES”.- Located to the northwest of the town of Maras. They are constituted for about 2000 small wells of 5 mts2. These minses are operated since the Inca time and still are today by the villagers. A manat of saltwater that flows from this mountain is used during the drought to fill the wells with salt water every 3 days during a month, allowing it to solidify gradually.
After our visit we will return to the city of Cusco. You also have the option to spend the night in Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley. Recommendable dates to visit: From April to October (dry Time)
